With the release of a promo image and European box art images, Ubisoft has confirmed Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag

It was only weeks ago that Ubisoft announced that the next Assassin’s Creed title would feature a new assassin and a new time period. Now, with the release of a promo image and European box art images, Ubisoft has confirmed Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag.

Full details will be announced by Ubisoft on Monday, March 4 at 6 p.m. CET.

Leaked imagery and information suggests that the game is set in 1715 and stars a pirate assassin named Edward Kenway, father of Haytham and grandfather of Connor from Assassin’s Creed 3. If this is true, it marks the first time that the franchise is taking a step back in time instead of moving forward as it has been with prior titles.

The box art also reveals that the PS3 version of the game will feature 60-minutes of exclusive gameplay, similar to how the PS3 version of Assassin’s Creed 3 received the Benedict Arnold missions.
