Director David O. Russell has departed the movie based on the PlayStation 3 hit video game franchise Uncharted.

Russell had seemed excited about the Columbia Pictures project, speaking frequently and enthusiastically about it as he made the rounds to promote “The Fighter” during awards season. But creative differences between him and Sony developed and the sides parted amicably, insiders say.

While no official casting choices were made, Mark Wahlberg was being talked about as the lead role with Robert De Niro and Joe Pesci co-starring. With David O. Russell now leaving the project, there’s a good chance that those parts will be re-cast. Nathan Fillion… looks like you have a second chance.
