The SNES game 'Tecmo Super Bowl' is being updated with HD graphics and a new soundtrack.

According to several gaming news outlets, the SNES game Tecmo Super Bowl (aka The Greatest Sports Video Game EVER) is being updated with HD graphics and a new soundtrack. The game will be released on PSN and XBLA under the title Tecmo Bowl Throwback. For those afraid of too many changes ruining the game, fear not; it will feature the same gameplay and team statistics as the SNES original.

I personally could not be more excited for this. Every Xmas Eve for the past few years, a group of us have pulled out the old SNES and happily handed each other a can of whoop-ass, with a side of trash talkin’, in Tecmo Super Bowl. This game could not be coming at a better time. I can’t wait to see Cornelius Bennett and my Bills bring about many HD-updated animations like this:

I’m holding my breath and saying my prayers for an announcement of online play…PLEASE make it happen Tecmo.
