Dominique Thorne’s Riri Williams to debut in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever

Dominque Thorne has joined the cast of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. For those unfamiliar, Thorne had previously been announced as the actor who will be playing Riri Williams for the hero’s self-titled Ironheart series coming to Disney+.

In an interview surrounding the release of Shang-Chi, Kevin Feige said, “We’re shooting Black Panther: Wakanda Forever right now, and the character of Riri Williams, you will meet in Black Panther 2 first.”

In the Marvel Comics universe, Riri Williams is a teen-aged engineering genius who designs her own version of an Iron Man suit. After using the armor to stop two escaped prison inmates, Tony Stark reaches out to her and gives her his blessing to become the armored hero Ironheart.

Black Canary movie in development with Jurnee Smollett to reprise role

A Black Canary movie from writer Misha Green is in early development at HBO Max.

Jurnee Smollett will reprise her role as Dinah Lance, aka Black Canary, who was first introduced in last year’s Birds of Prey movie. The character was depicted as a burlesque singer who rescues Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn from an attempted abduction and later becomes the driver for crime lord Black Mask.

It’s unclear whether Green will direct the Black Canary film as well, or merely write the script, but either way, the project is a long way off, as Green has several other projects in the works that she must tend to first. Green and Smollett previously indicated that they’d love to further explore the character of Black Canary while doing press for their HBO series Lovecraft Country, which was abruptly canceled after one season.

Joe and Anthony Russo exit Magic: The Gathering series

Netflix’s CG-animated series adaptation of the popular tabletop trading-card game Magic: The Gathering has shifted creative teams. The project was originally announced in 2019 with Joe and Anthony Russo at the helm, however, Deadline is reporting that the Russos and their team departed early in the process over different visions for how best to adapt the IP. The parting was amicable, and Netflix has now tapped Jeff Kline of Transformers: Prime.

Kline will oversee the creation of an all-new storyline and expand on the stories of the Planeswalkers, Magic’s unique magic-wielding heroes and villains. The Russos met with Kline to create a seemless transition between their teams. The animation will be done by Snowball Studios, taking over for the originally announced Bardel Studio.

WWE 2K22 to release next March

At WWE SummerSlam, 2K Games released a new trailer for its upcoming game WWE 2K22, while also confirming a launch window of March 2022, with platforms yet to be announced.

The game was originally announced back in April at WrestleMania, and this is the first update we’ve received since then. It looks like this trailer will have to tide us over for a while, as further information won’t be revealed until January.

Skyrim Anniversary Edition announced

Bethesda is releasing yet another edition of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, this time to celebrate the title’s 10th anniversary. Skyrim: Anniversary Edition will be available for the PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series S and X, and PlayStation 4 on November 11, 2021, exactly 10 years after the game was first released in 2011. PlayStation 5 owners will be able to play the PS4 version through backwards compatibility.

The Anniversary edition contains the full game, along with all three of its expansions, Dawnguard, Hearthfire, and Dragonborn. It has all the enhancements that came out with the Special Edition, the remaster Bethesda released back in 2016.

The game also comes with new features, including a fishing mechanic, as well as 500 pieces of Creation Club content, quests, dungeons, bosses, weapons and spells unique to this version. However, Bethesda has yet to release details about those new features, so players may have to wait for more information to figure out if the game is worth another purchase?.
