Nintendo has set the release date of the Nintendo 3DS XL in North America for August 19, 2012.

Already released in Europe and Japan as of July 28th, Nintendo has set the release date of the Nintendo 3DS XL in North America for August 19, 2012 – The same day as the U.S. release of New Super Mario Bros. 2. Much like the Nintendo DSi XL, which works exactly like the Nintendo DSi, the 3DS XL will have all the same functionality as the 3DS, only with 90% larger screens, bigger speakers and slightly redesigned buttons. The system also has a longer battery life compared to the 3DS.

American systems will be sold with an AC adapter and a 4GB SD card. The 3DS XL will sell for $199.99, $30 more than the standard 3DS and in solid red and blue color schemes rather than in two-tones.
