The internet nearly combusted earlier this year when a poster was leaked that suggested that a fourth Hangover movie would be forthcoming.
Unfortunately the poster for The Hangover 4 was revealed to be little more than a hoax, but it has added weight to the speculation about whether there will be another Hangover movie in the future?
The last Hangover movie came out in 2013, and whilst it wasn’t exactly a critical hit, it gave fans another much-needed dose of anarchic comedy and irreverent drunken humour.
And seeing as alcohol and the movie’s central location of Las Vegas aren’t going to go out of style anytime soon, expectations are high that we’ll be getting another Hangover film at some point.
Much of what’s holding up the creation of another Hangover movie probably rests with its biggest star, Bradley Cooper. The actor has repeatedly tried to distance himself from the Hangover movie by taking parts in supposedly serious movies like American Sniper and Serena.
But seeing as most of Cooper’s cinematic output in 2015 were box office duds, it’s hoped that he’ll be looking to make a return to the box office phenomenon that was the Hangover franchise.
However, it does pose a question of what could be done to supercharge the plotline of another Hangover sequel. The first movie was a breath of fresh air with plenty of outlandish gags as the Wolfpack made their chaotic way around the darker parts of Las Vegas.
Whilst the casino city made plenty of appearances in the following Hangover sequels, with casino culture becoming increasingly commonplace thanks to sites like Betway offering live dealer blackjack from a mobile phone, it’s been suggested that the franchise will have to look elsewhere to get its laughs.
And with the likes of Ocean’s Eleven and Ghostbusters being remade with an all-female cast, there’s even the possibility of some of the world’s biggest actresses being used to populate this hugely popular. But seeing as the Hangover movies are all about male pranks and obnoxious juvenilia, it’s hard to see how a sequel could work without the legendary line-up of Phil, Doug, Stu, Alan and the infamous Mr Chow.
So if you’re looking to see anymore Hangover capers, the best thing to do is to pour a brutal drink and hit the live dealer blackjack yourself!
