According to Showbiz 411, Michael Fassbender (Inglourious Basterds) is being pursued for roles in two different Marvel movies, but he’ll have to make a choice. The rumor is that Fassbender is being offered the role of Magneto in Matthew Vaughn’s X-Men: First Class starring opposite James McAvoy who’s already been cast as Charles Xavier. On the other side of the coin, he’s also being pursued to play an unnamed villain in Marc Webb’s Spider-Man reboot. The problem lies in that both films are shooting around the same time. While both Marvel films that you might assume would coordinate around one another, they are being produced by different studios, which will leave Fassbender having to make a choice between one or the other.
In other X-Men: First Class news, there are rumors that Rosamund Pike (An Education, Surrogates) is up for the role of Emma Frost aka The White Queen. A fan favorite for the role, Forces of Geek is reporting that Pike has been seen hanging around the offices of Lucinda Syson who served as Matthew Vaughn’s casting director for both Kick-Ass and Stardust. Pike was also allegedly seen carrying around a copy of an X-Men Origins: Emma Frost comic book.
